A formação inicial dos professores de história do ensino secundário na RDC continua a ser uma questão central para garantir a qualidade do ensino da história nas escolas. É crucial para o futuro das ciências históricas, para o desempenho dos alunos e para o desenvolvimento da consciência cívica e nacional.No entanto, o sistema congolês de formação inicial em história apresenta um certo número de deficiências: não está adaptado às realidades no terreno, existe um desfasamento entre as normas de formação e as exigências do ensino e existem lacunas estruturais e funcionais. Esta situação compromete a capacidade dos futuros professores para oferecer um ensino da história inovador, pertinente e instrutivo.Este livro oferece uma análise crítica destas deficiências e apresenta propostas concretas de reforma. Destina-se a todos os intervenientes no sistema educativo congolês: decisores, formadores, professores e investigadores, e pretende contribuir para uma reflexão aprofundada sobre a formação dos professores de história, tendo em vista a renovação educativa e a valorização da nossa memória colectiva.
