Epiphytische Kieselalgen können als empfindliche Indikatoren für die Wasserqualität und den trophischen Zustand verwendet werden, da einige Arten gegenüber der chemischen und physikalischen Zusammensetzung des Wassers tolerant sind. In diesem Sinne wurde die vorliegende Forschung entwickelt, um dem Bedarf an mehr Wissen über die floristische Zusammensetzung der Kieselalgen in den Seen der Savanne von Roraima gerecht zu werden.
