Boa Vista, capital of the state of Roraima, has natural savannah lakes, which are essential for maintaining water balance, as they are responsible for recharging the aquifer, resulting in a rich presence of aquatic macrophytes, an ideal substrate for epiphyte fixation. Epiphytic diatoms can be used as sensitive indicators of water quality and its trophic status, as some species are tolerant to the chemical and physical composition of water. In this sense, this research was developed as a way to respond to the need to learn more about the floristic composition of diatoms in the lakes of the Roraima savannah.
