É por estar inserido na cadeia produtiva que o dinheiro possibilita o mais-valor na etapa da produção de mercadoria. Se o dinheiro se encerra em si mesmo, ele também dá encerramento ao seu sentido em relação a uma realidade objetiva. O capital deixa de se movimentar no processo produtivo e, parado, passa a ser entesouramento e não capacidade de produção de valor. Ele encerra a etapa da industrialização de forma prematura, e inviabiliza, assim, um projeto desenvolvimentista de matriz estruturalista. O Golpe que se implementou contra as esferas públicas se deu em defesa da renta. Que é, portanto, em defesa do capitalismo e da sua condição de manter as desigualdades e de ser averso ao exercício da democracia plena. O desafio para a social democracia é, portanto, de posicionar a Economia Política na construção de um outro horizonte, diferente do presente que é ofertado à maior parte das pessoas do país, e que se dê, de fato, mediante exercício da cidadania participativa com seu potencial emancipatório contido na racionalidade comunicativa, através e pela defesa da Constituição.
