O Collectif des Personnes Infectées et Affectées par le VIH/SIDA (CAPES+), criado em 2008 e acreditado em 2009, é uma associação sem fins lucrativos que coordena as associações de pessoas que vivem com VIH no Burundi. A sua visão é promover a autonomia e o envelhecimento saudável das PVHIV através de tratamentos inovadores. As suas acções assentam em quatro pilares: a prevenção, os cuidados psicossociais, a defesa socioeconómica e o acompanhamento e avaliação. Desde 2023 até aos dias de hoje, para além das suas actividades regulares, a CAPES+ tem vindo a implementar a Monitorização Liderada pela Comunidade (CLM) financiada pelo PEPFAR/USAID via FHI360/EpiC e COVID-19 pelo PNUD. A organização é dirigida por cinco órgãos e trabalha com parceiros públicos e internacionais (Governo do Burundi, ONUSIDA, PNUD, USAID, etc.). Apesar dos progressos registados, subsistem desafios, nomeadamente a falta de recursos logísticos e de comunicação adequados. O CAPES+ recomenda o reforço das estratégias comunitárias e da capacitação socioeconómica para uma resposta sustentável ao VIH, em conformidade com a Visão 2040-2060 do Burundi.
