Waterside Diaries observes nature in and around British rivers throughout the ever-changing seasons. A half-dozen chapters for each month of the year explore varied facets of life in the river valley ranging from endlessly fascinating wildlife, both large and microscopic, to observations about the landscape itself, the mysteries it contains and the traditions it inspires. These pen pictures, each supported by a unique illustration, weave a tapestry of a rich ecosystem common to and free for the enjoyment and enrichment of all who choose to spend time with it. Sequel to the author’s Riverwatch (2018). Professor Everard holds academic posts at universities in Bristol and Bournemouth, and is a consultant and adviser to various bodies concerned with ecology.
