Viaje al Parnaso se publicó en 1614. Este relato en verso cuenta el viaje al monte Parnaso de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra y los mejores poetas españoles. Cervantes, montado en una mula, recorre lugares reales y míticos juntos a los mejores poetas españoles.Tras pasar por Madrid, la comitiva llega a Valencia, y asistidos por Mercurio, se hacen a la mar con destino al Parnaso en un barco hecho de versos. En el viaje avistan Génova, Roma y Nápoles y consiguen cruzar el terrible estrecho de Mesina. Ya en el Parnaso, tras un breve descanso, entablan combate con el ejército de los malos poetas utilizando como munición libros y poemas.
