'The Night Dragons and the Moon' follows Jal, an unusual blue dragon born to a family of fire-breathers. But there’s a problem-Jal can’t produce smoke, let alone fire! His parents, worried about his future, consult, Dr. Emdee, who reveals a shocking truth: Jal will never breathe fire.As Jal grows, he struggles with feeling different, especially during dragon games where fire is everything. However, he soon discovers that certain foods, like cheese, give him a fiery boost-but not from his mouth! With gas-powered flames from his rump, Jal can fly like a rocket, leading to an unexpected win in a school race.Jal eventually meets Violet, a lady violet-colored dragon with a similar secret, and the two marry. Together, they take on a daring mission to solve the mystery of the moon’s growing size. Using their tail-powered rockets, they travel to the moon and discover it’s made of green cheese! After their adventure, they return home, share their secret with other dragons, and start a family. The Night Dragons now nibble on the moon, keeping it from getting too big and leaving just enough room for the stars. On clear nights, the fiery trails they leave behind are what we call shooting stars.
