Shades of Ember

Embershade, Kentucky Nestled deep within the forest region of Coalmine County, this small mining town has many secrets. And a single curse. A century-old curse that casts a long, dark shadow over the town and keeps its residents afraid of the dark. Temporarily blind, River Edgewater, an eleven-year-old, third generation descendant of Rising Phoenix Ridgewater, a powerful and highly respected medicine man, has just moved to Embershade with his family and his best friend, Paint Bleufoot. With the blood of their ancestors coursing through their veins, it doesn’t take long before River, his best friend, and his brother, Colt, meet one of the town’s dark secrets. The shades. And chained in a basement somewhere in town is the darkest secret of all, a boy who vanished more than a year ago. The shades have been telling the boy that a deliverer would come, but he is beginning to fade. As River, Colt, and Paint begin to learn about their past, they must understand what it means to fulfill their great-grandfather’s prophecy. As the residents try to forget what happened on Wide Gate Road, the trio realizes that their generation will remind all of what has been forgotten.
