Ce travail vise à montrer comment le Parti des travailleurs a tracé la voie pour accéder au pouvoir exécutif au Brésil en 2002. Il cherche également à comprendre comment le parti a construit un projet hégémonique pour la gauche brésilienne. Depuis sa création, le Parti des travailleurs a cherché à discuter de ses programmes et a modifié certaines propositions établies lors de sa fondation, en essayant de s’adapter à la réalité existante. Ce processus de réformes s’est accentué à partir du moment où le PT a commencé à administrer des municipalités, des États et à se présenter aux élections fédérales. Les propositions des campagnes présidentielles de 1989, 1994, 1998 et 2002 ont subi de grands changements dans la conception administrative du pays. La réalité historique a fait du PT un parti dynamique, ces transformations ne l’ont pas fait abandonner son principal cheval de bataille, le socialisme, mais dans une orientation social-démocrate.
