Al giorno d’oggi i bambini iniziano ad andare all’asilo sempre più presto. Tuttavia, stiamo ancora imparando a educare i bambini in ambienti collettivi. Ispirandosi al modello bioecologico, l’asilo viene considerato come un sistema composto da diversi sottosistemi. Tuttavia, abbiamo rivolto la nostra attenzione ai sottosistemi familiare e professionale, concentrandoci sulle credenze e sulle pratiche che permeano il processo educativo del bambino all’asilo. Le convinzioni delle insegnanti sul lavoro con e per i bambini suggeriscono lo sviluppo di azioni orientate alla funzione educativa dell’asilo nido. Tuttavia, quando si analizza il lavoro degli insegnanti, è possibile constatare che la sua ragion d’essere sembra ancora essere determinata da motivi estranei alle esigenze e alle specificità del bambino. L’assistenza è ancora offerta tenendo conto delle carenze dei bambini nell’ambiente familiare e l’istruzione, anche se non lavora con i contenuti della scuola elementare, ha come riferimento il modello caratteristico della scolarizzazione. La constatazione di cui sopra evidenzia la necessità di ampliare la comprensione del significato dell’indissolubilità dell’assistenza e dell’istruzione come dimensioni inerenti al lavoro e allo sviluppo integrale del bambino.
