Successivamente, si approfondisce la triade uomo-clima-biodiversità all’interno della foresta. Viene fornita un’analisi dettagliata degli ecosistemi forestali che comprendono le ecoregioni mediterranea e sahariana e vengono chiarite le interazioni tra desertificazione, perdita di biodiversità e cambiamento climatico. La trattazione comprende un’analisi delle attività umane e dei loro impatti, l’esame dei segnali di degrado degli ecosistemi e l’esame delle pratiche di gestione sostenibile con casi di studio di successo.
