La Barraca (1898) es una novela del escritor valenciano Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, en la que se retrata con gran realismo y fuerza narrativa la vida rural en la huerta de Valencia a finales del siglo XIX. La historia sigue a Batiste, un campesino honesto que, junto a su familia, se instala en una antigua barraca abandonada con la esperanza de comenzar una nueva vida. Sin embargo, la comunidad local, marcada por el recuerdo de un conflicto anterior relacionado con esa misma vivienda, rechaza a los recién llegados y los convierte en blanco de la hostilidad, el aislamiento y la violencia.A través de esta tragedia colectiva, Blasco Ibáñez denuncia las injusticias sociales, la intolerancia, la presión del grupo frente al individuo y la crudeza de un mundo campesino dominado por la pobreza, el miedo y el fanatismo.
