Das vorliegende Werk befasst sich mit einem wichtigen Detail zur territorialen Entwicklung des südlichen Marchfeldes in der Babenbergermark. Die Grundlage hierfür ist das Diplom Heinrichs II. vom 14. November 1021, in dem er Bischof Egilbert von Freising ein Gebiet an der Donau überlässt. Diese sogenannte Insel Sachsengang wurde bereits von Freisinger Gefolgsleuten genutzt und wohl auch militärisch abgesichert. Die Namen der urkundlich erwähnten Örtlichkeiten geben Hinweise auf reale Personen aus der Freisinger 'familia'. Ein gesonderter Abschnitt befasst sich mit dem Entstehen der zweiten Herrschaft, der 'camera Encinesdorf'. In den Freisinger Urbaren ab 1160 scheinen nach und nach die Ortsnamen der heutigen Großgemeinde Groß-Enzersdorf und der Nachbargemeinde Raasdorf auf. Einige der entstandenen Orte blieben nur mehr als Flurnamen erhalten, manche sind nicht mehr nachweisbar. Das Anliegen des Verfassers ist eine Darstellung der Geschehnisse nach den neuesten Erkenntnissen der Geschichtsforschung, um damit eine wissenschaftliche Grundlage für weitere.
