O livro apresenta os resultados de um estudo realizado no Complexo Florestal Mau, no Quénia, entre 2008 e 2013. Aplica uma técnica de detecção de alterações utilizando sensoriamento remoto e sistemas de informação geográfica. Os objetivos do estudo são avaliar os esforços do Governo do Quénia para reabilitar o Complexo Florestal, em resultado da anterior escalada de excisão devido a assentamentos humanos e outras pressões induzidas pelo homem. São obtidas imagens Landsat para os dois anos e são utilizados os softwares ENVI e ArcMap para detetar a alteração do volume da cobertura florestal. São obtidos resultados e calculada a diferença na área florestal para as duas imagens.
