Face ao crescimento demográfico e ao êxodo rural, Madagáscar, em particular as suas grandes cidades, conhece um desenvolvimento urbano mal gerido, marcado pela proliferação de construções ilegais. A ausência de um planeamento urbano adequado trava o desenvolvimento sustentável do país. Neste contexto, o estudo incide sobre a elaboração de um plano de ordenamento urbano para um novo bairro de 18 hectares na Fokontany de Ankirijibe, Commune Rurale de Bemanonga, utilizando a ortofotografia. O objetivo é criar zonas de actividades que respondam às necessidades da população local, nomeadamente em termos de lazer e de desenvolvimento sociocultural. Duas hipóteses orientam este estudo: o plano proposto é adaptado às necessidades locais e as infra-estruturas actuais são insuficientes.
