I began creating my notes in 2021 as a newly graduated cardiac ICU nurse. Now working in the cardiac catherization lab, I still recall the challenges I faced as a new grad in the ICU. The steep learning curve was overwhelming, and lacking accessible educational resources, I decided to create my own. Being artistic and a visual learner, I illustrated my notes on critical care topics and compiled them into a binder, titled 'ICU Nursing Notes by Caitlyn.'Over time, I transformed complex concepts into engaging illustrations, which deepened my understanding and encouraged critical thinking. Seeing the potential impact on others, I made my notes available on Instagram and began selling them on Etsy, eventually reaching over 72,000 healthcare professionals.'ICU Nursing Notes by Caitlyn' has become my passion project, serving as an educational resource I wish I had when I started nursing. Focusing on cardiac critical care and interventional cardiology, I aim to make learning easier and instill a deeper appreciation for critical care nursing. I believe that when you understand the 'why,' the 'how' becomes intuitive.During my journey, I received incredible support from mentors like Marie Rahme, Michelle Barbera, and others, who taught me the value of mentorship. I strive to provide that same support to others. I hope you find this book helpful!
