62 year-old June has lived alone in the same flat in Melbourne since 1975.She’s worked at the same job in the city, wearing the same dress and cardigan year in, year out.She eats the same pizza on the same night of the week, has two goldfish, never been anywhere and hasn’t taken any holidays.She has no friends.Her family in Beechworth are rotten and don’t love her.She’s always got her head stuck in a Mills & Boon book and that’s about the extent of her excitement as she commutes into and out of the city.Then along comes 30-something April to work in her office.She turns June’s life upside down, giving her a makeover.At the same time, June discovers a new sexual desire in herself that she hadn’t known existed.Simultaneously, June discovers that her grandmother has died and that sets her (and April) off on a hunt for her real family who she learns about in a letter her grandmother left her.
