Este libro, dirigido no solo a investigadores que trabajan temas relacionados con la filosofía de la educación y la filosofía política, sino también a directivos y profesores de colegios y estudiantes de licenciatura en filosofía y humanidades, se ha estructurado en torno a tres puntos clave: el papel que cumple la filosofía en la educación y cómo los cambios en el sistema educativo están afectando el quehacer de esta disciplina; las didácticas que se necesitan para su enseñanza en Colombia y cómo los cambios en la prueba Saber 11 pueden requerir nuevas pedagogías en los colegios, y la relación entre la filosofía y la llamada lectura crítica. Así, varios capítulos analizan cómo se concibe en el ICFES el concepto de lectura crítica y cómo este resulta insuficiente para dar cuenta de lo que significa el pensamiento crítico que está en el corazón de la reflexión filosófica; entre tanto, dos capítulos más tratan de mostrar que hay una correlación positiva entre la enseñanza de la filosofía y el desempeño de los estudiantes en las pruebas de lectura crítica, lo cual muestra que la filosofía puede ser útil para mejorar en esta competencia. 10
